Plumbing schedules on commercial work are tight from the start. The underground has to be in before the slab, risers have to keep pace with the structure, and rough-in has to be finished before inspections and drywall. Time spent cutting and threading pipe on site is time taken directly out of those windows.
Lehman Pipe & Supply’s fabrication work moves that preparation off the jobsite. For plumbing contractors across Florida, we cut, groove and thread pipe to your drawings, tag it, and deliver it with the rest of your order, ready to install.
What Fabrication Covers for Plumbing Contractors
Our fabrication services are built around the preparation plumbing crews would otherwise do in a laydown area or a ground-floor staging room:
- Cutting pipe to the lengths on your takeoff
- Threading for threaded runs and connections
- Grooving for grooved piping systems
- Welded outlets where the design calls for them
- Custom pipe packages built per drawings and spec
- Design review of drawings, submittals and specifications before work begins
- Staging, bagging and tagging so each piece is identified before it ships
- Coordinated delivery alongside the rest of the material on your order
The goal is simple: less field preparation and more material arriving ready for the jobsite.
Where Fabricated Pipe Saves Time on a Plumbing Job
Not every plumbing scope benefits from fabrication. The ones that do tend to be repetitive, drawing-driven or tied to a hard schedule milestone.
Domestic water risers. On mid-rise and high-rise buildings, risers often move floor by floor behind the structure. Pre-cut, prepared riser sections let the crew set and connect pipe as each floor opens up instead of staging a cut station on every level.
Repeat-floor layouts. Hotels, multifamily towers, dormitories and senior living projects repeat the same bathroom groups and branch runs floor after floor. Once the first floor is drawn, the remaining floors can be fabricated to the same dimensions and tagged by floor and unit.
Mechanical and equipment rooms. Water heater, booster pump and header connections can be prepared ahead of time so the room is roughed in during a short window, which matters on renovations and occupied buildings.
Threaded and grooved service piping. Runs that would otherwise require threading machines and grooving equipment on site can be prepared in advance, keeping that equipment and the scrap it generates off a crowded floor.
Fabrication Starts With Inventory on the Shelf
Fabrication only shortens a schedule if the raw material is already available. A shop waiting on pipe is just another delay.
Lehman stocks more than 20,000 products company-wide, and the range plumbing contractors draw on is broad: carbon steel pipe, copper tube, PVC and CPVC, cast iron soil pipe, PEX and polypropylene, shown on our pipe products page. The fittings, valves and fixtures that complete a plumbing package come from the same supplier, so the fabricated pieces and the loose material can be planned, staged and shipped together.
That reduces one of the most common sources of field delays: the riser section that arrives on time while the fittings it connects to are coming from someone else on a different truck.
Tagged to Your Drawings, Delivered to Your Floor
Fabricated pipe is only useful if the crew can find the right piece when the truck is unloaded. Bagging and tagging ties every piece back to your drawings by floor, area, system or drawing number, whichever matches how your crew installs.
From there, delivery runs on Lehman’s own fleet of more than 30 trucks. With branches in Miami, Pompano Beach, Fort Myers, Orlando and Plant City, we coordinate fabricated material with the rest of your order and move it to where the work is happening, from South Florida high-rises to Tampa Bay and Central Florida commercial projects. Our Jacksonville branch, opening in Q4 2026, extends that coverage into North Florida and toward Savannah.
For dense urban sites in Miami-Dade and Broward, where laydown space is limited and every square foot of a floor plate is contested, prepared and tagged material that can go straight from the truck to its installed location makes a measurable difference.
Less Field Preparation, More Installed Pipe
Moving cutting, threading and grooving off the jobsite changes how a plumbing crew spends its day:
- Journeymen stay on installation instead of measuring and cutting at a saw.
- Floors stay clearer, with fewer threaders, cut stations and scrap piles competing with other trades.
- Waste drops, because lengths are cut to the drawing rather than estimated in the field.
- Rework is easier to avoid, because fabrication follows the drawings and submittals you send and every piece is labeled to match.
On a project where plumbing is racing framing, drywall and inspections, those hours add up to schedule that can be protected rather than recovered later.
What to Send for a Fabrication Quote
The more complete the information, the cleaner the package. When you request a quote, include:
- Drawings, isometrics or cut sheets for the scope you want fabricated
- Pipe material, schedule and size for each system
- Joining method for each run: threaded, grooved or welded outlets
- Tagging requirements by floor, area, unit, system or drawing number
- Delivery location, timing and any phasing or staging requirements
Our team will review the scope with you, confirm what can be fabricated and how it will be labeled, and coordinate delivery with the rest of your material.
A Supply Partner Built Around the Field
Lehman has supplied Florida contractors since 1946. Eighty years later, with more than 150 employees, a statewide branch network and our own delivery fleet, the investment continues in the things that keep plumbing crews productive: inventory depth, fabrication and dependable delivery.
Fabrication is a natural extension of that work. It removes a step from the jobsite and puts it where it can be done to spec, tagged and shipped project-ready. For mechanical contractors, the same capabilities apply; see our post on pipe fabrication for mechanical contractors.
Have domestic water risers or repeat-floor plumbing coming up on a South Florida tower? Send your drawings and request a fabrication quote from our Miami or Pompano Beach branch, and we’ll build it to spec, tag it by floor and coordinate delivery to your jobsite.
Built to Serve. Built to Last.
